(New York, NY) — Unionized Starbucks workers across the nation are staging a Red Cup Day strike today. Baristas are striking for one hour, two or more, depending on location, on this, the busiest sales event day of the year when Starbucks gives out holiday-themed reusable cups. They say it’s because they’re overworked during promotional events like Red Cup Day. New York-New Jersey sites where there are job actions include Union Square East in Manhattan, Ditmars Astoria in Queens, the Yorktown and Farmingville Starbucks, the Rutgers and Princeton locations and the Court Street Starbucks in Brooklyn. Baristas are asking customers to join in, providing addresses and strike times.
