(New York, NY) –The FDNY says the Bronx will finally get a special ambulance reserved for obese patients in the borough. Paramedics have complained for years that medical help for larger New Yorkers has been compromised, because either they can’t fit into ambulances or so much has to be moved around to accommodate them. The new bariatric ambulance will come with a ramp and a stretcher for patients who are over 750 pounds. The state’s Health Department says the Bronx has the highest number of obese residents in the city.
