(New York, NY) – A 24-year-old Israeli student says he won’t be returning to the campus of Columbia University any time soon, because he doesn’t feel safe after being attacked. According to the New York Post, 19-year-old Maxwell Friedman attacked the student with a foreign object this week, injuring the man’s hand. Having been charged with a hate crime, Friedman also stands accused of assault, aggravated harassment, and weapons charges.
The attack apparently unfolded as the victim was posting flyers concerning the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, and the fact that Israeli’s died at the hands of Hamas terrorist attacks on Saturday, October 7. Police say Friedman and the victim got into an argument regarding the conflict and that led to the attack.
