(New York, NY) – According to WABC’s Curtis Sliwa, plans are moving ahead to set up a tent city at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. He reports that contracts are being handed out for tent installers, electricians, and plumbers. This comes after the Federal Government approved Floyd Bennett Field as a temporary migrant shelter — which was required given its managed by the National Park Service.
City Hall says no contracts have been executed as of yet for Floyd Bennett Field. Sliwa says the contracted firms that will be hired have done similar work at Creedmoor Psychiatric Facility in Queens. He adds tent installation and other set up steps usually take about 72 hours.
