Biden, 9-11
(Washington, DC) – President Joe Biden has reportedly rejected parts of a plea deal concerning the alleged mastermind of the 9-11 attacks and his co-defendants. Military prosecutors are attempting to negotiate a deal that would see the alleged attackers plead guilty in exchange for the death penalty being taken off the table. Biden reportedly rejected a portion of the deal that would spare the defendants solitary confinement and allow them to eat and pray together.
Family members of 9-11 victims have said they want a trial, in order to potentially uncover more about the attacks themselves, and who may have offered material support. But legal experts say a trial could be challenging because the 9-11 defendants were allegedly tortured while at Guantanamo Bay.
