(Neptune City, NJ) – Legislation is now in effect for New Jersey that aims to protect military veterans from being scammed. Governor Phil Murphy put pen to paper Friday morning and said the bill aims to strengthen federal laws that surround the same issue. Murphy argues the rules now have more detail.

Specifically, the law prohibits people from helping veterans file for benefits.

New Jersey counts more than 360,000 veterans among its residents. The new law will be enforced by the Attorney General’s Office Division of Consumer Affairs.
