Migrants
(New York, NY) – New York Governor Kathy Hochul has approved the use of Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field as a migrant shelter. A lease was signed Monday following the approval of Federal authorities. The state will be on the hook for the cost. In order to help cover the expense associated with assigning the migrants case workers, the state is providing New York City with $20,000.
The state notes it has committed over 1.5 billion dollars and 1,800 national guard members in order to help support the city’s migrant shelter system.
