Brooklyn, NY – The 17-year-old accused in the deadly stabbing of professional dancer O’Shae Sibley in Brooklyn is set to be arraigned Friday on charges involving a hate crime.
A grand jury indicting the suspect, identified as Dmitry Popov, on charges of murder in the second degree . Authorities say he 28-year-old was stabbed to death by the suspect after he allegedly made anti-Black and anti-gay comments directed at Sibley at a Brooklyn gas station.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges, and denies the attack was racially motivated.
Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez says ” You should not be afraid to live your true self because someone else could be offended by it.”
