(Greensboro, NC) – Following a federal complaint filed by a pair of workers in North Carolina, a home repair company must pay out $50,000. According to court documents, both workers were terminated from their positions with the company after refusing to participate in a prayer group that met daily.
Per the federal complaint, Aurora Pro Services allegedly created a “religiously hostile” work environment. There are claims the company’s owner and other employees would read from Bible scriptures. Allegedly, employees were required to recite back prayers as a group. Meanwhile, both of the employees in question say they identify as atheist and agnostic.
Attorneys for Aurora have denied the prayer meetings were mandatory.
