(Washington, D.C.) — Former President Donald Trump is due in a DC courtroom at 4 this afternoon to answer charges on four counts related to his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
John Lauro, Trump’s attorney, says this case is just about taking him down ahead of the race for the White House.
“No sitting president has ever been criminally charged for his views, for taking a position,” said the lawyer. “By the way, is there any doubt there’s two systems of justice in the United States; Has Hillary Clinton been prosecuted for the Russian Hoax?”
Former Vice President Mike Pence is getting vocal against Trump, saying “On that day President Trump asked me to put him over the constitution, but I chose the Constitution and I always will.” Pence claimed he did not have the right to overturn the election and that Trump’s repeated claim the election was rigged is completely false.
