(Washington, D.C.) — Former President Donald Trump will be in Washington D.C. on Thursday to answer charges of interfering with the results of the 2020 election. Special Counsel Jack Smith announced the latest Trump indictment on Tuesday. The Department of Justice claims Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election contributed to the Capitol riots in January of 2021. Obama-appointed Judge Tanya Chutkan has been assigned to the case. Donald Trump says the DOJ has been weaponized to take him out of the 2024 race for the White House. Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says the latest move by the DOJ is just away to distract Americans from President Biden’s brewing scandal.
