(New York, NY) — Starting today, New York City’s new garbage rules kick in as part of its war against rats. All food related businesses will have to put their garbage in containers with lids when they leave their trash on the curb. That includes restaurants, supermarkets, and bodegas. It’s the second phase of the city’s plan to get roughly four-million pounds of trash off the streets.  The new regulation impacts roughly 25-percent of businesses across the city.
