(Washington, D.C.) — The Federal Reserve says it no longer sees the nation falling into a recession this year. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell making those comments after the central bank raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point Wednesday. Powell says inflation has moderated, but there’s still a “long way to go” to get it down to the two-percent goal.
