(New York, NY) — New York City has opened 500 cooling centers today as the first heat wave of the summer envelops us. City public pools and beaches will stay open an hour later through Saturday, so New Yorkers can cool off. It will be in the 90s through Saturday. On Sunday, forecasters say the high will only be 79 degrees.
