New Yorkers surrendering pets

syndication-asheville-citizen-times-3

(New York, NY) — Animal shelters across the city are seeing a huge uptick in surrenders. The Animal Care Centers of New York City say they are overwhelmed and understaffed, because of the increase in animals dropped off by New Yorkers in the last few months. They say the cost of caring for a pet is part of the problem. To ease the overcrowding situation, ACC is offering to give people food so they can keep their pets, and lowering adoption fees for larger dogs and older pets.
