(New York, NY) — It looks like the MTA will get it’s way, and be able to institute it’s congestion pricing plan sometime next year. They got the green light from the Federal Highway Administration. So, drivers could be charged as much as 23 bucks a day to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street. The MTA could collect about a billion dollars a year in congestion pricing tolls. That money would be used to upgrade the subway, bus and commuter rail systems. The MTA will now likely start setting up the tolling infrastructure, with congestion pricing going live as early as next Spring.
