(New York, NY) – At least 150 Starbucks locations are facing the possibility of a worker’s strike over the next week. The union Starbucks Workers United says this is because the company isn’t permitting Pride month decorations to be displayed, in recognition of the LGBTQ+ community. With votes underway concerning additional strike authorizations, the number of impacted stores could grow to 200.

Starbucks disputes the union’s claims and says it encourages stores to celebrate Pride every June. A recent op-ed in the New York Post suggests the coffee giant has been looking to relax its Pride involvement, given recent controversies surrounding Bud Light and Target.

Starbucks Workers United says it’s gathered documented cases of employees being restricted from displaying Pride decorations.
