(New York, NY) – Earlier this month, a stabbing unfolded on a J-Train in Brooklyn. It left 36-year-old Devictor Ouedraogo dead, and 20-year-old Jordan Williams in handcuffs. But since then, a story has emerged suggesting Williams acted in self defense. Williams says Ouedraogo was harassing other straphangers, and even touched his girlfriend. Defense attorney Jason Goldman joined Sid Rosenberg on “Sid and Friends in the Morning” to discuss the case.

Many people are comparing the situation to the May 1 death of Jordan Neely, who was allegedly harassing and threatening other subway riders before Daniel Penny restrained him. Neely died, and the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office said a chokehold caused his death. Since then, Neely has been indicted on manslaughter charges.

Williams is out on bail but faces manslaughter and weapons charges. He recently told the New York Post he’s “trying to get through day by day,” and going to church often. The accused calls it a “terrible situation,” adding he’s just “trying to get through it.” He’s due back in court on August 2, but a grand jury is considering the case in the meantime.
