(New York, NY) – A vegan Brooklyn landlord just listed a stunning Fort Greene apartment rental – but there’s a major caveat: Tenants are forbidden from cooking meat or fish in the kitchen. Michal Arieh Lerer, the landlord at 90 South Oxford Street, permits tenants to have takeout that contains meat or fish, but bans cooking this food in the kitchen because he doesn’t want the smell of meat or fish traveling up into his apartment. New York’s Human Rights Law prohibits landlords from approving or denying an application based on various attributes, including race, age, or sexual orientation, but a tenant’s eating habits is not one of them.
