(New York, NY) – A tentative start date has been set for former President Trump’s trial, after he was accused of improperly handling classified documents at his home in Mar-A-Lago. A new order posted to US District Judge Aileen Cannon’s docket indicates August 14 has been established as the start date for now.
There have also been various filing deadlines set for both Trump’s attorneys and the Department of Justice. Cannon also ruled the trial will be held at the federal courthouse in Fort Pierce, Florida, as opposed to in Miami where Trump was arraigned.
Reports indicate its highly likely the August 14 start date could shift based on negotiations that are ongoing between Trump’s legal team and the DOJ. Experts describe the discovery process as highly complex and contentious.
