It was a big weekend for horror fans with the release ‘Evil Dead Rise’, the newest installment of the beloved franchise started by Sam Raimi back in 1981.
However, fans came in droves for the film, shooting ‘Evil Dead Rise’ to the number two slot in the domestic box office, followed only by ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’. While Nintendo and Illumination’s animated hit made over $59 Million this weekend, it was still a 35% decrease from the previous weekend.
While ‘Big George Foreman’ will release this Friday, ‘Evil Dead Rise’ may very well keep it’s spot, or even jump to number one. That is, if the 40th anniversary re-release of ‘Return of the Jedi’ doesn’t prove to be a thorn in it’s side.
