NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD says an attempted rape occurred New Years Day just before 10 PM on a southbound number 2 train departing the 125th street subway station.
Police say a man followed an 18 year old woman onto the train where the attempted rape occurred. According to police the suspect exposed himself and attempted to pull the victim’s pants down while the train was approaching the 72nd Street subway station. A Good Samaritan intervened and helped the victim flee to another train car to safety.
The suspect remained on the train until reaching the 42nd Street subway stop where he fled.
The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual depicted in the attached media in connection with the attempted rape.

The teenage victim was taken by private means to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County for treatment and evaluation.
The individual is described as an adult male, last seen wearing dark clothing and red sneakers, and carrying a McDonald’s food bag and beverage.
