(77WABC) — With inflation at 7.7% under the Biden White House, a survey of wholesale growers finds Christmas trees Will cost an average of 16% or more this year.

A survey by the Real Christmas Tree Board finds growers are passing along increases in gasoline, diesel and fertilizer prices. More than 70% of wholesale Christmas tree growers said they plan to increase their prices by between 5% and 15% compared to last year, according to the survey. Another 5% said they plan to mark up their trees over 20%.

Just 2% of growers said they don’t plan on increasing their prices at all.

Droughts and wildfires have also affected Christmas tree sales. Variety and quality may be down this season, but growers say there aren’t any anticipated shortages this year and suggest you buy early.
