NEW YORK (77WABC) — On Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 at 7 at night, police responded to a 911 call of a man assaulted inside the 600 Candy Grocery store located at 600 West 161st Street.
Upon arrival, police found a 38-year-old man with a slash wound to his face. Police say two men were involved in a verbal dispute. The injured man was slashed when he got in between the two men to tray and break up the fight.
The suspect who slashed the man stated “I hate Mexicans.” The Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
The injured man refused medical attention.
The alleged slasher who police say said “I hate Mexicans” is an adult, has a dark complexion, is approximately 6 ft. tall. He was last seen wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt with a graphic on the front, light blue jeans and white sneakers,
