The Columbus Day Parade gets underway in New York City later this morning.
The 78th annual trek steps off on Fifth Avenue at 11:30 this morning, with this year’s Grand Marshal noted philanthropist Tom Golisano. Tens of thousands of people will be lining the streets of Fifth Avenue from 44th to 72nd Streets to watch the marching bands, floats and groups celebrate Italian-American heritage.
Meantime over the weekend there were celebrations in honor of the eighth annual Indigenous People’s Day in New York City.
