FORT MYERS, Fla. (77WABC) — Local officials says at least 99 people in Florida have died due to Hurricane Ian.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has also confirmed four deaths in the state due to the storm. This reportedly includes a 25-year-old man who died when he lost control of his car and hydroplaned into another vehicle in stormy conditions along Raleigh Road in Johnston County.

Days after the skies cleared and the winds died down in Florida, Hurricane Ian’s effects persisted Monday, as people faced another week without power and others were being rescued from homes inundated with lingering floodwaters. Frustrations mounted in the path the storm cut through Florida, and the hurricane’s remnants, now a nor’easter, weren’t done with the U.S.
