(77WABC) — Officials in Florida and the federal government are working together in preparation for Hurricane Ian.
Two and a half million people ordered to evacuate. On Fox News Tuesday, Governor Ron DeSantis noted the Biden administration’s help in making sure residents’ needs are tended to.
Now a Category 3 hurricane with wind speeds at 120 mph, Ian is expected to make landfall in Florida Wednesday possibly as a Category 4 storm, causing a major storm surge and heavy rainfall. DeSantis called it a “significant storm” and said peoples’ lives are at risk.
Hurricane Ian also made its way into western Cuba as a major hurricane leaving 1 million people without electricity. Ian made landfall early Tuesday in Cuba’s Pinar del Rio province, where officials set up 55 shelters and evacuated 50,000 people.
