QUEENS, New York (77 WABC) — There have More shark sightings on Long Island.
This time a shark sighting closing Rockaway beaches to swimmers on Tuesday. Governor Kathy Hochul is ordering state agencies to beef up monitoring of sharks, this comes after a series of attacks and sightings off Long Island beaches in recent weeks.
At least 4 people have been bitten by sharks in Long island waters this summer. Patrol boats, drones and helicopters are patrolling beaches.
