The CDC has placed New York City, including all five boroughs, on its high-risk category for COVID-19.
The five boroughs were in medium risk in June, however, New York City has now returned to high-risk. The COVID positivity rate hit 15% on July 5.
Face masks are recommended for all including those who are fully vaccinated. Masks are encouraged to be worn indoors and in public areas.
The NYC Health Department provided insight on which masks provide the most protection against COVID-19. It is recommended that N95, KN95 or KF94 masks are worn as they are well-fitted.
