Add-a-heading
With the Lightning leading 2-1 heading into the third period the Avalanche needed to find a way to retake control in this series and not let the Lightning tie the series at 2. Early in the third period Andrew Cogliano scored a goal on the deflection to tie the game at 2. This was a great job by Nico Sturm and Cogliano getting to the front of the net and getting it past Vasilevskiy to tie it up. The game remained tied for the rest of the third period bringing game four to overtime. In overtime Vasilevskiy made some incredible saves to give the Lightning a chance, but with 7:58 to go in the first overtime Nazem Kadri who was making his return from a thumb injury made a great move to get to the front of the net and score. This was an incredible play by Kadri who just had thumb surgery two weeks ago. This puts the Avalanche up 3 to 1 in the series and only one win away from winning the Stanley Cup. Coach Jon Cooper of the Lightning was not happy with some of the calls that were made in the game including the last play that he thought was offsides. Game four could’ve gone either way but just like game one it went to the Avalanche in overtime. The Avalanche will look to hoist the Stanley Cup in game five on Friday night at home.
