NEW YORK (77 WABC) — Malfunctioning MTA subway cameras at the 36th St. and 25th Street Subway stations hampered authorities in their search for James, following Tuesday mornings horror in which he allegedly shot ten people aboard an MTA subway car.

James was identified due to a commuters cell phone video. He is believed to have fled the 25th Street Station.

Cameras were on and recording but weren’t transmitting footage back to MTA headquarters and the NYPD. Officials blame the faulty cameras on a server issue preventing pictures, reaching command centers for the MTA and the NYPD.
