NEW YORK (77WABC) — COVID-19 restrictions are easing in the Big Apple.
Mayor Eric Adams says he plans to lift the COVID-19 vaccine passport requirement in the city — as well as lift mask requirements in schools, effective March 7th.
“At the end of this week, we will evaluate the numbers and make a final announcement on Friday,” Adams said in a statement. “If we see no unforeseen spikes and our numbers continue to show a low level of risk, New York City will remove the indoor mask mandate for public school children.”
Adams says the planned easing of guidelines means visitors to restaurants gyms and other indoor venues will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination. His announcement is on the heels of Governor Kathy Hochul lifting mask mandates in schools across New York state starting Wednesday.
However Adams says all other vaccine mandates remain in effect including mass transit.
