NEW YORK (77WABC) – What’s in your kitchen cupboard? According to Consumer Reports, you may be using spices that contain heavy metals.

The seasoning my be tasty and easy to apply to your dish, but is it really worth exposing yourself to arsenic, cadmium, and lead?

Consumer Reports took a deep drive into the spice cabinet and tested 126 products from popular brands like McCormick, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods. The findings were enough to make 77 WABC Radio’s Joan Hamburg alarmed. She suggested making a small little potted garden on your kitchen window sill.

Consumer Report’s experts say 31 of the 126 products tested with lead were so high that they exceeded the maximum amount anyone should have in a day.
