NEW JERSEY -(77WABC)- Tolls are going up on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

You’ll be paying 3 percent more in tolls beginning Jan 1st.

New Jersey Turnpike authority spokesperson Tom Feeney tells NJ.com,  “The purpose of the 3% percent increase  is to provide a stable funding source for capital needs.

“That’s where the additional revenue will be going.”

The average passenger vehicle toll on the New Jersey Turnpike will increase from $4.80 to $4.95.  On the Garden State Parkway, tolls for E-ZPass customers will rise from $1.90 to $1.96.
