ELMONT, NEW YORK- (77WABC)- Long Island has a new railroad station, and its really good news if you’re an Islander hockey fan.
The LIRR station in Elmont opens for service Saturday November 20th, coinciding with the Islanders first home coming game at their new arena .
The Elmont Station will at first offer eastbound service to the UBS Arena on event days, as well as nearby Belmont Park, which has its own station.
Westbound service will begin next year. The Elmont station is the LIRR’s first newest station in nearly 50 years.
