New York, New York (77WABC) – At least five city firehouses are reportedly closing due to staffing shortages.
Andy Ansbro, President of the FDNY -Uniformed Firefighters Association speaking on WABC’s Cats at night show, say’s that engine number #1 in midtown will be shutting down.
He says the city’s emergency services are facing a crisis.
The other fire houses closing are reportedly in Staten Island, the Bronx and possibly Inwood in northern Manhattan.
Workers and union officials rallied outside Gracie Mansion Thursday to protest the vaccine mandate.
Mayor de Blasio was firm on Friday’s deadline, saying he’s working with the heads of the city’s frontline workers in case of any major shortages.
