(WASHINGTON, DC) (77 WABC) — Uncle Sam is giving millions of retired Americans on social security a raise.
Beginning ncxt year, the average retired worker will receive $92 dollars in their social security checks as a result of a cost of living adjustment.
That’s a nearly 6 percent increase in benefits. An average couple would see a $154 dollar increase in their check.
The increase is a departure from yearly cost of living adjustments, which have been low.
This means the average Social Security check for retired workers will now be a little more than $1,650 dollars a month in 2022.
