New York, NY (77WABC)-  With the Afghanistan evacuation completed, it’s been reported that 100-200 Americans and Allies have been stranded and left behind.  Many are wondering, who are the people left behind? How can we help them?

According to the Wall Street Journal, an Afghan interpreter who helped rescue Joe Biden over 12 years ago pleaded to the president to evacuate him and his family from Afghanistan and the Taliban rule.

The interpreter chose not to use his name, and told the WSJ the desperate plea he made to President Biden:

“Hello, Mr. President: Save me and my family, don’t forget me here.”

Unfortunately, he was forgotten.

The interpreter is among many Afghan allies left behind after the U.S. withdrawal, and is now in hiding with his family. He was part of a team that helped rescue Biden, when he was a Delaware senator in 2008, when his helicopter was forced to land in a snowstorm, leaving them in a desolate valley in Afghanistan. Our prayers are with his family.

It’s been reported that there are many journalists, nationals, etc. among those left behind as new details emerge. If you’d like to find out ways to help Afghanistan, please click here.
