FLUSHING, Queens (77WABC) — The U.S. Tennis Association announced Friday that the New York City mayor’s is now requiring proof of vaccination to go into Arthur Ashe Stadium during the US Open.

“Any US Open attendee with tickets to Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, The Grandstand, or the grounds of the US Open, will be required to provide proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to enter the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center,” a statement from the US Open reads.

The change was made less than 72 hours before the tennis tournament is scheduled to start. The USTA has also decided to extend the rule to cover all ticket-holders who are 12 and older who enter the grounds when the tournament begins Monday.

Ticketholders are advised to show their proof of vaccinating by bringing either a CDC vaccination card, a vaccination record, the NYC COVID Safe App, or the Excelsior Pass.

The event is returning to 100% capacity after all fans were banned from attending last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
