KABUL (77WABC) — Reports of two suicide bombing attacks outside Kabul’s airport Thursday has left at least 13 dead — including children — and four US soldiers injured, according to U.S. and Taliban officials.
We can confirm that the explosion at the Abbey Gate was the result of a complex attack that resulted in a number of US & civilian casualties. We can also confirm at least one other explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from Abbey Gate. We will continue to update.

The explosion occurred outside of an entrance to the Hamid Karzai International Airport’s when someone reportedly detonated a suicide vest. A second explosion was also reported at or near the Baron Hotel, according to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby.
The attack comes just hours after an ISIS terror attack warning was issued by the U.S. Embassy in Kabul as well as the State Department.
Thousands of Afghan citizens have been attempting to evacuate the country because of Taliban militants overtaking much of the country, however the Taliban does not appear to be involved in the bombings.
