New York (77WABC) – Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul reassured the public in a press conference today that she is prepared to take on the role as governor, and has the backs of all New Yorkers.
“I know New Yorkers; they are hard-wired to persevere and to prevail,” Hochul said in the press conference. “The promise I make to all New Yorkers right here and right now, I will fight like hell for you every single day, like I’ve always done and always will.”
I want people to know that I’m ready for this,” she added. “Its not something we expected or asked for, but I am fully prepared to assume the responsibilities as the 57th Governor of the State of New York.”
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation yesterday after New York Attorney General Letitia James released a report last week detailing 11 instances of sexual harassment Cuomo made against current and former state employees.
Cuomo has said he will stay on as governor for the next 13 days before transitioning power to Hochul.
