Pelham-Gardens-91-Year-Old-Body-Discovery
Pelham Gardens, NY (77WABC) –A 91-year-old man was found dead at his home in the Bronx after an apparent robbery, the NYPD said Tuesday.
Officers responding to a 911 call reporting a robbery found the elderly victim unconscious and unresponsive at his home at the corner of Wickham and Waring avenues in Pelham Gardens around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Late Tuesday evening, the NYPD identified the victim as Nicholas Rappa of Wickham Avenue.
When officers went to the back of the home, they found the body of 91-year-old Nicholas Rappa. His hands were bound, he had trauma to the face and lacerations to his arm.
Stunned neighbors said Rappa, who lived with his 97-year-old wife and a tenant, was a retired construction worker who helped build nearby Co-Op City in the 1960s.
The NYPD says the investigation into this incident is ongoing. An autopsy will be conducted by the NYC Medical Examiner to determine exact cause of death.
