New York (77WABC) – Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday that starting July 6, vaccinated city workers will no longer need to wear masks indoors or observe social distance rules.
“We want to do this because its the right time to do it,” de Blasio said. “People are ready. We want to do this to set the pace for everyone else.”
The Mayor added that city workers who are not vaccinated and interact with the public regularly still need to follow COVID and mask social distancing guidelines.
“By September, we’d like to see everyone in our offices back to normal,” de Blasio carried on. “Now that’s gonna be of course following CDC and state guidance, and we expect that to keep evolving. We think we’re on that track right now.”

De Blasio also announced the restarting of some events in New York City, such as the New York Comedy Festival which will resume Nov. 8-14. He also announced Movies Under the Stars resuming across NYC parks, showing big movies like Toy Story 4 and Captain Marvel.

New York Public School Film Festival will be featured during Movies Under the Stars, featuring 32 films created by NYC Public Schools students from all five boroughs.
