Huntington, NY (77WABC)-Suffolk Police say a 13-year-old from Huntington Station has been arrested after allegedly punching another 13-year-old male and making biased comments during a dispute last Saturday at the Walt Whitman Shops.
Police say the incident occurred during a dispute between two groups of juveniles at the shopping mall in South Huntington.
Detectives from Suffolk County’s Second Precinct arrested the teen at the Precinct Thursday night around 9 pm. The teen, whose name has not been released due to his age, has been charged with Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree which is a Class A Misdemeanor and hate crime under New York State penal law.
Police say he will be arraigned at Suffolk County Family Court at a later date, which has not yet been announced.
Police say the victim was not seriously hurt.
Detectives have not said what the dispute between the two groups of juveniles was about.
