NYC Bringing Covid-19 Vaccinations to its Public Schools

New York, NY (77WABC) Beginning Friday, Pfizer’s two-dose Covid19 vaccination will be available at four NYC public schools in the Bronx, with the vaccination effort set to expand next week. The pop-up vaccination sites will continue until the end of school later this month.
NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio said, “it’s going to be a way to reach a lot of young people                                              quickly.”
You can view the Mayor’s announcement below:
NYC Public Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter says the shots will be available from 10 am to 6 pm at the following schools;
  • Bronx Writing Academy & JHS Jordan L. Mott (both at 270 E. 167th St)
  • JHS 118 William W. Niles (577 East 179th St)
  • MS 180 Dr. Daniel Hale Williams (750 Baychester Ave.)
Under CDC guidelines the 12 to the 17-year-old age group is the latest to be eligible for the shots. So far,
118,000 children in that age range or 23% living in NYC have been vaccinated to date.
Mark Levine is head of the City Council’s Health  Committee. He said during the Mayor’s briefing this morning that he feels this will be great convenience for busy parents. “They might not have time to travel to a vaccination site after school,” he said.
