NEW YORK (77WABC) – Bystanders at the Minneapolis intersection where George Floyd died were startled Tuesday as gunshots rang out nearby, forcing people to take shelter briefly.

AP reporter Philip Crowther reported hearing as many as 30 gunshots about a block from the intersection, and says a storefront window appears to have been broken by a gunshot. While no injuries were reported, Crowther also mentioned in a tweet that another reporter had her phone smashed because she took photos of a storefront hit by a bullet.

The intersection is to be transformed on Tuesday into an outdoor festival marking the anniversary of Floyd’s death, with food, children’s activities and many musical performers.
