Amazon Closes Connecticut Construction Site As Nooses Found

NEW YORK (77WABC) – Amazon is shutting down a construction site in Connecticut after a seventh noose was found there, the Connecticut NAACP and the company said Thursday.

The AP first reported the story back in April when Police originally investigated the discovery of six nooses at the construction site. According to a report from USA Today, Amazon is closing the site while security measures are put in place, company spokesperson Brian Griggs said at an NAACP news conference Thursday.

“We continue to be deeply disturbed by the incidents at this construction site,” Griggs said. “Hate, racism or discrimination have no place in our society and are certainly not tolerated in any Amazon workplace — whether it be under construction like this one, or fully operational.”

Griggs added that they are working with authorities “to find and hold accountable the perpetrators of these incidents”.

Currently, Amazon and the development company are offering a combined reward of $100,000 for information to find those responsible, and
