Those Vaccinated Outside of Barclay’s Center Will be Eligible for NBA Playoff Tickets

New York, NY (77WABC)-NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio opened his morning briefing wearing a Brooklyn Nets cap and t-shirt. He announced details will be available at NYC.gov later today about a mobile vaccination site planned for outside of the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. Furthermore, the Mayor said people who stop in to receive a Covid-19 vaccination at the mobile site outside of Barclay’s will be eligible to enter a special lottery for NBA playoff tickets.

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo in NYC on Monday announced that the state is adopting CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines for mask-wearing. The federal guidelines lift the wearing of masks as mandated during Covid-19 for outdoor events and most indoor events.  Cuomo also announced theaters and sports arenas can re-open at 100% capacity if all persons in attendance are vaccinated for Covid-19. The Governor added private operators have the option to split seating between vaccinated and non-vaccination persons.

As Brooklyn Nets CEO John Abbamondi spoke about the team’s playoff run and the reopening of Barclay’s to full capacity the Mayor changed into a suit and tie as seen below:

Abbamondi said tickets for the playoffs went on sale this morning at brooklynets.com. He said Barclay’s seating will mainly be for persons vaccinated for Covid-19 and a handful of seats will be for persons who cannot get vaccinated with social distancing. He said the team  has “very high hopes” going into the playoffs with the Nets the #2 seed in the East:

Both the Brooklyn Nets and the NY Knicks have made the NBA Playoffs this year. A full schedule can be seen here.
