Power Outages and Felled Trees Possible Isolated Wind Gusts To 60 mph Forecast

National Weather Service (77WABC)-A high wind advisory has been issued for the Tri-State area until early Saturday morning. The National Weather Service says winds are forecast to gust as high as 55 mph with isolated gusts to 60 mph possible. The forecast calls for west winds of 25 to 35 mph.

Loss of power and felled trees are possible along with dangers from blowing debris. People are advised to use extreme caution and never to approach downed wires, always assume they are live, and to notify your utility.

The NWS says to “use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle,” and to “secure outdoor objects.”

 

High winds are predicted for portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut, and southeast New York:

Northern Fairfield-Northern New Haven-Northern Middlesex- Northern New London-Southern Fairfield-Southern New Haven-Southern Middlesex-Southern New London-Western Passaic-Eastern Passaic-Hudson-Western Bergen-Eastern Bergen-Western Essex-Eastern Essex-Western Union-Eastern Union-Orange-Putnam-Rockland-Northern Westchester-Southern Westchester-New York (Manhattan)-Bronx-Richmond (Staten Island)-Kings (Brooklyn)-Northwest Suffolk-Northeast Suffolk-Southwest Suffolk-Southeast Suffolk-Northern Queens-Northern Nassau-Southern Queens-Southern Nassau.

The warning is posted until 6 am Sat. morning.
