Queens, NY (77WABC)-Video shows an NYPD Detective being assaulted and suffering a head injury as he was investigating a crime in front of 39-07 Prince Street in Flushing, Queens.
Two officers, one in plain clothes and the other a uniformed officer give chase as the Detective is seen in the video bleeding from his head on the sidewalk. The suspect, 25-year-old Morgan Akeele of 1130 Kelly St. in the Bronx, was apprehended a short distance away.
Police say the detective was transported to NY Hospital Queens where he was treated for minor injuries. The detective is assigned to the Crime Scene Unit and was processing a crime scene in regard to a burglary that occurred around 5 am Monday.

Morgan is charged with Assault on a Police Officer, Assault 2, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment.
